Activities Throughout November 2024 by NUTP


November 2024 has been a productive and meaningful month for NUTP with various important activities involving education, international cooperation, and impact assessment of major projects. Here are the highlights of the activities conducted:


1. Special Narrative Post-Budget 2025: Reforming the National Education"


Date: 4th November 2024

Platform: TV1


On November 4, 2024, the President of NUTP, Mr. Aminuddin Awang, was a special guest on the TV1 program titled "Special Narrative: Budget 2025 - Reforming the National Education." During the program, the NUTP President discussed the reforms needed in the national education system based on the presentation of Budget 2025. He also shared his views and hopes for strengthening education in Malaysia through high-impact initiatives.






 



2. Closing Conference of the 'Teacher-Led Learning Circles for Formative Assessment' (T3LFA)


Date: 8th November 2024

Location: DoubleTree by Hilton, Kuala Lumpur


NUTP organized the Closing Conference for the T3LFA project, which has been implemented over the past two years. The President of NUTP, Mr. Aminuddin Awang, along with the Secretary General of NUTP, Mr. Fouzi bin Singon, and NUTP representatives attended the event. The conference aimed to provide a platform for project participants to discuss the impact and successes of the program. This project focused on teacher-led formative assessment as an effort to improve the quality of teaching and learning in schools.




The Deputy Director-General of Education Malaysia, Sector of Professionalism Development, Ministry of Education Malaysia, Haji Shafruddin bin Haji Ali Hussin, attended the Closing Conference of the Teacher-Led Learning Circles on Formative Assessment (T3LFA).


His presence was welcomed by the President of NUTP, Mr. Aminuddin bin Awang, the Secretary-General of NUTP, Mr. Fouzi bin Singon, and the senior officers of NUTP.








 


3. Courtesy Visit by Teachers of the Indonesian Teachers Association (PGRI)

Date: 14th November 2024

Location: NUTP HQ, Kuala Lumpur


NUTP was honored to receive an official visit from the delegation of the Indonesian Teachers Association (PGRI) West Sumatra Branch. The visit involved 16 delegation members, who were warmly welcomed by the President of NUTP, Mr. Aminuddin bin Awang, along with other NUTP leaders such as Mr. Jaafar bin Abdullah and Mr. Abd. Rahman bin Abdul Mutalib. This visit served as an important platform to strengthen the collaborative relationship between the two teacher associations and exchange views on regional education issues.




 

4. Sister to Sister (S2S) Leadership Training Programme

Date: 19th-21st November 2024

Location: Novotel Bangkok, Bangkok, Thailand


The Assistant Secretary General (English), Ms. Norzah binti Muhamad, and Executive Council Member of NUTP, Ms. Iznida Hayu binti Che Hashim, had the opportunity to attend the S2S Workshop held in Bangkok, Thailand. This workshop not only served as a platform to bring together experienced women leaders but also provided an opportunity for young leaders from various backgrounds across the Asia-Pacific region. The main purpose of the workshop was to build a multicultural support network that could strengthen women’s leadership and deepen their involvement in the education union movement.


In this context, the women leaders attending the workshop had the opportunity to share experiences, knowledge, and proven strategies that have been effective in advancing the education agenda in their respective countries. Through the exchange of ideas and best practices, the participants were expected to broaden their perspectives on the issues faced in education and leadership. Additionally, the workshop emphasized the importance of cooperation among women from different countries to improve the quality of education and advocate for educators' rights.


Through interactive sessions and group discussions, participants were able to build stronger relationships and offer mutual support. This is an important step in empowering women in the field of education, where they often face various challenges and barriers. By leveraging this network, it is hoped that more women will emerge as bold and competitive leaders at the local and international levels, making a positive impact on society and the education system as a whole.





 

5. First Meeting of the NUTP English Language Bureau for the 2023 - 2026 Session


Date: 22nd November 2024

Location: Wisma NUTP, Kuala Lumpur


The President of NUTP, Mr. Aminuddin bin Awang, the Secretary General of NUTP, Mr. Fouzi bin Singon, the Assistant Secretary General (English), Ms. Norzah binti Muhamad, and the members of the NUTP English Language Bureau Committee participated in the First Meeting of the NUTP English Language Bureau for the 2023-2026 session.




6. Handover of the MUI (PA) Tokio Marine Insurance Benefit Cheque to NUTP

Date: 29th November 2024

Location: Jasin District Education Office, Melaka


The handover of the MUI (PA) Tokio Marine Insurance Benefit Cheque amounting to RM 56,092.86 was made to Leow Lee Chin, a teacher at SJKC Merlimau and the mother of Goh Ghim Yong (who is blind in one eye), on Friday, November 29, 2024, at the Jasin District Education Office (PPD) in Melaka.


Mr. Hj. Zainal bin Daud, Chairman of the NUTP Melaka Branch, Mr. Azmi bin Ahmad Sapian, Secretary of the NUTP Melaka Branch, and Mr. Hj. Esmadey bin Mohd Yatim, Treasurer of the NUTP Melaka Branch, were present to hand over the MUI (PA) Tokio Marine Insurance Cheque valued at RM 56,092.86.




7. NUTP Women's Workshop and Internal Auditor Course for NUTP Branches

Location: Tamu Hotel & Suites Kuala Lumpur








Kesimpulan


November saw the tireless efforts of NUTP in ensuring the progress of education in Malaysia through involvement in education reforms, project impact assessments, and international cooperation. NUTP remains committed to upholding the role of teachers and the education system for a brighter future.
